Ever since starting my massage business in 2004, I have helped my clients become as self-reliant as possible in managing their own health, wellbeing and pain relief.

When expanding my services into nutrition, I followed the same principle, providing clients with simple, affordable nutritional advice and focusing on whole foods so they can self-manage long-term weight loss, disease prevention and general good health.

A little history…

Back in the early 2000s, I found myself growing increasingly despondent in my job in media. I was so sick and tired of the 9 to 5 grind (more like 8 to 6, let’s be honest), just to line someone else’s pockets. It was definitely not for me.

Like many people reaching a crossroads in their career, I just couldn’t ignore the feeling that I was meant to be doing something more; something that would make a positive impact on people’s lives.

I decided to look for opportunities to work for myself while providing a service that would help others.

After investigating a few career possibilities, massage therapy came to mind. The more I looked into it, the better it sounded.

The idea that I could make a direct, positive impact on people’s lives by helping them relieve and manage their pain with my own two hands gave me such a great feeling.

So, in 2004, after completing my remedial massage courses, I launched my career as a massage therapist. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.

Branching out

Over the years, I noticed  a connection between my clients’ diet and their physiology.

Sometimes I was helping to manage pain where the root cause was not physical injury or bad posture, but dietary intake. These were cases such as joint inflammation brought on by foods high in sugar, gout caused by alcohol, and a multitude of physical ailments resulting from obesity.

Although massage therapy really helped these clients, what if I could actually prevent many of their dietary-related issues in the first place and avoid the pain altogether?

I began to explore the idea of branching out into nutrition, and the more I investigated, the more fascinated I became.

In 2014 I completed my Advanced Diploma in Nutritional Medicine and added nutrition to my toolkit of services.

What I love about my work

I know it can sound like a cliché, but honestly, I’ve met the most amazing people over the years, from many different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. All have interesting lives and stories to share.

My favourite part is when clients contact me to say they’re feeling great and no longer in pain. This was why I chose to pursue massage in the first place. It makes me so happy.

Finally, I love how my work constantly evolves. I learn new things every day and am continually adapting and refining my techniques. It keeps things interesting!

On top of all that, I work for myself, from my home and get to choose my hours.

What more can I ask for?
